A Great Year With An Exciting Finish!

On Wednesday, POPVOX released their year-end report profiling the top 50 Bills in Congress in which members of Congress heard most from Constituents in 2011.

According to POPVOX, “The "Fair Tax Act" took two spots in the top ten list, with the House version, H.R. 25, ranked second in popularity and the Senate version, S. 13, ranking ninth - both with 80% support!

What a terrific way to end 2011! At Americans for Fair Taxation, 2011 has been a year of great change. We have confronted and resolved a number of operational, administrative and funding issues; all with a goal of positioning the FairTax for renewed confidence and energy in 2012. As 2012 rapidly approaches, our imperatives continue to be on two fronts.

First, the grassroots is the foundation for the entire FairTax campaign.

We must identify, recruit, train and actively support a grassroots army of 3,000 activists in each of 435 congressional districts. Imagine what could happen with 1,305,000 activists! Exciting isn’t it? To that end, the leadership of our grassroots team is strong and growing and collaboration between and among the states is increasing and becoming a tremendous pressure lever.

Second, we must replenish our campaign coffers sufficient enough to bring a floor vote for HR 25 in 2012. This can only be accomplished through both sustaining and major donor investments. That campaign is currently underway including actively exploring new and innovative fundraising methods. We expect to have more to report on this matter by the end of January.

Finally, the campaign staff, under the leadership of Cindy Canevaro, has identified experts for many of the priority positions within the national organization. These positions will be filled as funding and timely execution require.

The political and economic environment has never been more in need of what the FairTax has to offer. It is our obligation, on behalf of future generations, to provide the needed resources to make the FairTax the law of the land.

Thank you for your hard work, your dedication and your commitment to “stay the course.”

Happy New Year!

Aquapalooza on Disappearing Island

Volunteer District Director, Rudy Treml, sends us this picture of their event:

"The FairTax team from East Volusia County Florida set up a FairTax tent on a island event that occurs once per year in Ponce Inlet in Florida. The event is called Aquapalooza on Disappearing Island and is geared for the boaters and businesses that provide products for boaters.

At low tide, all event participates quickly boat out to the Island and setup tents for about a 8 hour time period. The event shuts down quickly when 3-4 foot of water or more moves in at high tide covering the Island."
