"America was built on courage, on imagination and an unbeatable determination to do the job at hand." - Harry S. Truman

Your Plan For Independence

Tomorrow, Texas will celebrate 177 years of Independence. In 1836, General Sam Houston and his modest volunteer army surprised and defeated General Santa Anna and his Mexican army at the Battle of San Jacinto. Ten years later, Texas voluntarily entered the United States after a majority vote of the people.

On that day in 1836, by most accounts General Houston’s army was outmanned and outgunned.  When the final battle commenced mid afternoon, Houston’s army appeared weary and ragged from over a month in the field. But their element of surprise, combined with clean and well-oiled rifles created a force that General Santa Ana’s formidable army could not overcome.

Some people believe the FairTax® is weary and ragged and if they just wait us out we will go away. I have news for them. We’re not weary, we’re not ragged and we’re not going away. In fact, we’ve just begun to fight!

We are not intimidated by special interests. We do not fear bullies, and those who seek to water down the fundamental tenants of the FairTax Plan do not sway us.

Don’t be fooled by the current “tax reform” rhetoric currently coming out of Capitol Hill. It is nothing more than window dressing for the continued proliferation of special interests and their treasure chest of exemptions and loopholes, so lush now that Washington, D.C. has become America’s newest “Boomtown.”

There is only one tax replacement plan created by the people, for people and about the people.  It is the FairTax Plan.

If you are not actively participating in advancing the FairTax Plan with your Congressional delegation and in your community, we encourage you to take action today.

Texas is a state today because General Houston, his volunteer army and the then-people of Texas committed themselves and everything they had to winning their independence from foreign domination.

Will you make this kind of commitment to the FairTax? Will you develop a plan for giving of your time, talent and financial resources? If you will, send me your plan and we will publish 2 or 3 of the best ones we receive in an upcoming issue of FairTax Friday! You can send your plan to me at:

Volunteer Spotlight: Oklahoma FairTaxers

We’re thrilled to announce that Congressman Jim Bridenstine, representing OK-01 has signed onto HR 25! This is another success story from Oklahoma leaders and volunteers.

Here’s the inside story that OK State Director, Bill Harrington, sent us last week. It’s a model of what OK does with a strong volunteer organization and how national coordination helps our efforts:

“It is 8:06PM and I just got home from a Town hall in Owasso held by Jim Bridenstine OK-1. There was about 75-100 people in the meeting (WAG) and the congressman stated that he was a "strong supporter" of the FairTax and that he would be a cosponsor.

After the meeting I had a short bit of face time with him.  He told me that he had made contact with Woodall and told him that he wanted to become a cosponsor.  Rob filled him in and Jim intends to follow through upon his return to DC.”

Fair tax would help charities - Houma Today

Would you like to give more to your church or favorite charity?

You are not alone, but with hard times, even though charitable giving is growing, it is growing so slowly that it will take 10 years to return to the 2007 rate of charitable giving. Because our tax code is crippling businesses, punishing hard work and repelling foreign investment, in 2011, Americans gave 11 percent less than in 2007.

Fair tax ends the income tax, alternative minimum tax, death tax, gift tax, payroll tax, capital gains tax and self-employment tax. Grow the economy, and you grow charitable donations. Beacon Hill Institute’s research shows passage of the fair tax increases giving by 2.4 percent within 10 years and almost 5 percent within 20 years…

It is time for Congress to pass HR:25 The Fair Tax! Star News Online

…A day does not go by when reading the News Paper or tuning in to the TV News report one sees a story where some Representative or Senator is wringing their hands in desperation over the current wasteful failure known as the Federal Tax System. Most make statements blaming the other Party or claiming there are no Bills or solutions for them to support or bring to their Constituents. This is a false statement based in ignorance at best, a lie at worst. Currently 60 Representatives and 7 Senators are Co-sponsors of HR:25 or S:22! Representative Walter Jones, Mike McIntyre and Senator Kay Hagan are not supporters? They don't seem to know about HR:25 or S:22 when I have asked why they are not Co-sponsors?

HR:25 The Fair Tax is the solution. HR:25 is a very simple Consumption based Tax System that includes a Pre-bate to make sure those living at or below the poverty level will no longer be penalized by Federal Taxes…
