Demand FairTax Instead Of IRS Tax Prep

100 years ago, Congress passed the first income tax.  What do we have to show for it?

Our nation is facing bankruptcy for starters and just today, the Bureau of Labor Statistics released their March jobs report showing only 88,000 new jobs were created last month.  And, adding insult to injury, we were told that 496,000 Americans stopped looking for work (five times as many gave up as found new jobs), and 11.7 million are waiting in the unemployment lines.

Folks our country needs jobs – we need the FairTax® Plan.

That’s why we launched a major new effort called “Explode the Tax Code”, which will allow you to sign your name as a Citizen Co-Sponsor of HR 25 and S 122, the FairTax® Act of 2013.  This is a unique opportunity to truly let your voice be heard.  Look for an email from Neal Boortz for more information!

There has never been a more urgent time than now to get the FairTax plan through Congress.  Just this week ProPublica and NPR published an article about how wonderful it might be to have the IRS complete your tax return!

They called it “return-free filing,” and encouraged readers to “Imagine filing your income taxes in five minutes – and for free.  You’d open up a pre-filled return, see what the government thinks you owe, make any needed changes and be done.  The miserable annual IRS shuffle, gone.”

Pullleeezzz. The last thing we need is the IRS filling out our tax returns.  What we do need is the complete replacement of the income tax system with the FairTax Plan. And, lest you think this is just some pie-in-the-sky idea, President Obama has already endorsed the concept.

The FairTax will only become reality when a critical mass of American citizens demands it.  It is as simple as that.

We fight the good fight every day, but we cannot do it alone.  We need your financial support, your constant calls and letters to your members of Congress.  You are the one that carries the most weight in Washington, D.C.

You are the one who has the power to re-elect or send your elected representatives to the unemployment line. For this reason alone, you are the one they fear. Let them know today – you want the FairTax and you want it now.

Finally, many of you have written and shared your letters and calls to your elected officials. Thank you so much for letting us know what you are doing.  And, for everyone who is making a donation, please accept our heartfelt appreciation - we couldn’t do what we do without you.

Until next week,

FairTax Volunteer Spotlight

The FairTax campaign enjoys a cadre of outstanding volunteer state directors who give tirelessly of their time, talent and energy.

Kerry Bowers, our Nevada State Director is just such an example, and is someone who has an extraordinary talent for effectively communicating the FairTax value proposition in both word and in video. This week he released his latest FairTax video directed towards members of the House Ways and Means Committee.

Kerry Bowers

Kerry began his commentary by telling the 11 Ways and Means Committee Working Groups, appointed by Chairman Dave Camp, “you need look no further; the investigative work has already been completed for you; accomplished almost 20 years ago by Americans For Fair Taxation and with $20 million dollars in donations rather than through the expenditure of precious tax dollars.  And, most importantly, our investigation revealed the single best solution for a new tax revenue system, one that has been approved by distinguished university and business economists all across this nation; among them, Vernon L. Smith, Nobel Laureate in Economics.”

He then makes a succinct case for the FairTax and challenges the committee to “bring the FairTax into the open and examine it against all other proposed tax systems.”

Grab your favorite beverage and take 5 minutes to watch Kerry’s latest work.  When you’re done – send it to everyone you know, including your elected representatives and post it on your Facebook page.  Thanks Kerry for a job well done.

The FairTax Act In The News

Support The Fair TaxGreenpoint Star

Dear Editor:

It is time to file my Federal Income Tax return. That means hours spent gathering information and working with tax software or a preparation service to guide me through the maze of regulations as I attempt to get back some of my money from the government. Help me put an end to this.

There is a bill before the U.S House Ways and Means Committee to replace the Income Tax, the Medicare Tax and the Social Security Tax with one national sales tax and abolish the IRS in the process.

These taxes will not be deducted from your paycheck and no tax return is required. You will keep the money you earn every payday.

Congress will not act on this bill unless we demand it. Local Congressman Joseph Crowley is a member of the Ways and Means Committee. Call (202) 225-3625 today and tell him to support HR25, The Fair Tax.

Sincerely,

Irving B. Welchons III, Charlotte, NC

Interest in Fair Tax as Tax Time Approaches – Fetch Your News

Pickens County citizens came out last week to hear about taxes, a timely topic as the deadline for filing income taxes approaches on April fifteenth.

Representing Georgia for Fair Tax, Stephen Hall Jr. presented a case for the Fair Tax Act as a replacement to the current tax code. Speaking before the Pickens County Tea Party Tuesday night, Hall reminded the audience the current tax code is approximately 72,000 pages long, while the Fair Tax Act is 97 pages long, front and back…

“(Fair Tax) is a grassroots movement that will replace the federal tax code with a revenue neutral retail sales tax,” Hall read, as he stood before the crowd. Simply put, Fair Tax is a consumption tax, meaning citizens are only taxed once on goods and services purchased. The first part is fairly simple; consumers are only taxed once on the goods they purchase…
