Troubling Times And Hopeful Signs

On Wednesday, history was made when Senators Reid and McConnell finally reached a deal to open the federal government in exchange for lifting the $16.9 trillion debt limit. It’s hardly imaginable that our debt ceiling is getting ready to hit $17 trillion and there is no end in site.

And yes, the wheels of Washington are turning again, including the full force of the IRS.

Many of you have sent me notes expressing your thoughts about the deal. Congratulations to those of you who were pleased with the outcome. To those who felt a sense of betrayal, don’t be discouraged.

In 1777, after losing a major battle to the British, General George Washington found himself with two court-marshaled generals and a very demoralized army. General Washington, in addressing his troops, said, “We should never despair, our situation before has been unpromising and has changed for the better, so I trust, it will again. If new difficulties arise, we must only put forth new exertions and proportion our efforts to the exigency of the times.”

These prior statements point to an interesting phenomenon within the FairTax® movement. FairTax supporters span the entire political spectrum - from far left to far right. This is why the FairTax has never been about being a Democrat or a Republican. It has always been and will always be about a simple, fair and transparent tax plan for everyone – regardless of position, income, title or standing in life. The FairTax is the great equalizer, taking power from the ruling class and returning it to the people.  This is why Washington’s ruling class fears the FairTax as much as losing their coveted positions of power.

And that’s why we can’t stop now. With the signing of the debt deal, we anticipate the Committee on Ways and Means will now develop a schedule for their fundamental tax reform deliberations.

This means our vote activities must now take on new urgency.

In preparation for the vote we are aggressively working with our contract research team to confirm HR 25’s ten-year revenue estimates. We are also preparing for the Joint Committee on Taxation’s scoring of HR 25 – a requirement for any tax reform plan being considered by the Committee on Ways and Means. Lastly, we are developing a rapid response force. Many of you have already expressed interest in joining that team.

Right now, we need relentless, unending communications to Washington in support of the FairTax Plan. Contact your representatives – whether you have contacted them before or not – and members of the Ways and Means Committee.

Finally, don’t miss this Sunday’s broadcast of “60 Minutes” on CBS.

Peter Schweizer, the author of Throw Them All Out and an upcoming expose Extortion, will be featured Sunday evening on CBS “60 Minutes”. In Extortion, Schweizer exposes how both parties in Washington, D.C. engage in legal extortion of the private sector to fund campaigns and enrich lobbyists, consultants and bureaucrats among others. This is one you don’t want to miss! And, be sure and look for an upcoming announcement in FairTax Friday on how you can get a special copy of this most compelling expose.

In closing, it’s been a rough few weeks for our nation. Some of you have asked how the FairTax can become law when Congress has so much difficulty just getting a budget deal passed?  My answer is just look at how far the FairTax has already come.  We have made history twice in just the past few weeks!

The Committee on Ways and Means will be voting on HR 25 for the first time in history and we now have more co-sponsors than at any other time in history!  We have the entire Kansas Congressional delegation signed on as co-sponsors – the first state in the nation. And, last but not least, the House oversight committee is investigating the shenanigans of the IRS.

Just one year ago, none of these things were true.

Things don’t move quickly in Washington. Congress didn’t abolish slavery and women were not given the right to vote overnight, and it required a critical mass of the American people demanding change. Our critical mass is building.

That is why I am confident that one day, the FairTax will be the law of the land.

Until next week,

The FairTax Act In The Media

HR 25 ends Federal ShutdownsThe Gilmer Mirror

Citizens are suffering because of the current Federal Government shutdown. Our, uncontrollable Federal Government, supported by unrestrained Federal Income Tax is the reason! If Citizens are wise enough to demand passage of U.S. House Bill HR:25 this madness will stop! The fair Tax description of this Bill is disputed by some, however, HR:25s requirement that will controllably repeal the 16th Amendment is possibly the single most beneficial part of this Bill and this can not be denied…

Today we know the damage and fear the Federal Income Tax has caused or is causing.

It has become the weapon of choice to punish any and all opposition to Federal Control of our lives. It seems Citizens across the United States are looking for a substitute for the current failed Federal Income Tax. That simple system is defined in HR:25 The Fair Tax Bill. This Bill replaces it does not add to the current Federal Income Tax. This solution was not developed in Washington by Politicians. It was developed and payed for by Citizens! It has been promoted by unfunded volunteer Citizens like myself for one simple reason, it will work!..

Those of you who live in a Congressional District Represented by a Member of the House Ways and Means Committee have the unique opportunity to save this Nation. We; You can turn this ship around before it is wrecked on the rocks of greed & bankruptcy. Call your Representative and demand that they vote to send HR:25 to the House Floor!

The FairTax is Fair - Brainerd Dipatch

The FairTax is a plan whose time has come. It would replace the income tax and abolish the IRS shortly after being adopted. It’s a national sales tax and would be collected by the states at the cash register when you check out. No more federal with holdings from your pay check! No more FICA. No more hidden taxes. No more record keeping and no more reporting to the government. Prices of goods at the store will remain about the same even thought those shelf prices include the tax! Best of all, everyone will pay the tax and everyone is treated exactly the same.

The FairTax is nonpartisan. It’s not a Democrat or Republican idea. It’s strictly an American idea consist with our founding fathers ideas on taxation. Google FairTax to learn more.

Most important; contact your representative and senators. Tell them to get the FairTax legislation out of the House Ways and Means committee and onto the floor of the House for consideration by the full congress and the American people. If your congressmen don’t support the FairTax, well… the 2014 primaries are only months away.
