The IRS In Your Holidays + "Extortion"

2013 is proving to be a watershed year for our nation. At a time when most individuals should be planning their Thanksgiving, Christmas and Hanukkah celebrations, they are waiting for their 2013 tax planning guides and for the first time, trying to figure out how to make their healthcare IRS compliant.

Yes, this is the same IRS The Wall Street Journal reported from 2003-2012 "paid at least $110 billion and as much as $132.6 billion in improper earned-income tax credits."

But surely the IRS will clean up its act, right? Well, they’ve been trying for 100 years and so far, history just continues to repeat itself.

In 1989, The New York Times reported the IRS had a “breakdown of internal controls in some I.R.S. district offices, especially Los Angeles… agents accepted gratuities, misused Government travel funds, hired their relatives, invested in properties of companies under audit and sought at management levels to cover up their misdeeds.”

If that sounds familiar you may remember earlier this year when Reuters reported the IRS Inspector General said that IRS employees have difficulty managing travel cards – to the tune of $121 million!  The more things change, the more they stay the same.

So instead of looking forward to roasted turkey, pumpkin pie, sleigh bells and chestnuts roasting on an open fire, the American people have to now including the IRS in their end of year planning.

For the first time in history, every single taxpayer in America will soon be spending an inordinate amount of money and time preparing their tax return while worrying how to manage every intimate detail of their healthcare being under the microscope of the IRS. Talk about getting up close and personal!

So if Congress thinks they have a public perception problem related to the recent government shutdown, they have a rude awakening coming when the people come face-to-face with the reality of their latest IRS expansion. The 2014 elections will soon be upon us and this could be a real game changer folks.

Speaking of game changers, last week we told you about “Throw Them All Out” and “Extortion” author Peter Schweizer’s expose on Sunday evening’s, 60 Minutes. Schweizer revealed even more astonishing information during a follow-up interview with Sean Hannity.

In discussing his book, Extortion, Schweizer discussed with Hannity how an alarming number of elected officials are using existing laws (laws they passed) to extort, punish and facilitate lavish lifestyles.

Mr. Schweizer is providing FairTax supporters a personally autographed copy of this acclaimed book, Extortion, in exchange for a minimum one-time donation of $75 to Americans For Fair Taxation.

To receive your personally autographed copy, make your donation here and then you must forward your donation thank you email to campaigns@fairtax.org. Or, if you want to mail-in your donation, print this form and follow the instructions. You will receive your book directly from Mr. Schweizer, which may take several weeks given his busy media and professional schedule.

Finally, in case you missed Congressman Rob Woodall’s (GA-07) press release on the 73rd co-sponsor of HR 25, be sure and read it here.

In closing, Lord Acton said, “Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely.” The actions of the IRS combined with the facts uncovered by Peter Schweizer point to a narcissistic governing body drunk on power; seemingly incapable of understanding or caring about the people they are entrusted to represent.

HR 25 rightfully returns the power to where our Founding Fathers intended it to be – with the people of this United States. For the first time in history, the Committee on Ways and Means has an opportunity to enact a “We the people” tax plan if they will simply pass the FairTax Plan.

With this bold, bipartisan action, they will take a giant step forward in saying to the American people, you have spoken, we have heard and we agree - enough is enough.

Until next week,

The FairTax Act In The Media

POLITICAL NOTEBOOK: FairTax bill draws more support - Gwinnet Daily Post

Lawrenceville U.S. Rep. Rob Woodall announced this week that his FairTax legislation has more support in the House of Representatives than ever.

The 73rd co-sponsor signed onto the legislation, which would replace the current income and payroll taxes with a federal sales tax…

“This huge benchmark speaks to the dedication of everyone who has worked so diligently to advance the legislation,” Woodall said. “Not only has the FairTax gained more supporters than ever before, we have had the first hearing in the Ways and Means Committee in a decade and included FairTax language in every House Budget Resolution since January 2011. We’ve been promised a vote in the committee when the time comes, and everything we do until that point must be focused on bolstering that opportunity.”..

“The current tax code has become too burdensome and complex, and is filled with provisions that only benefit a few Americans at the expense of everyone else. That’s simply not right,” Chambliss said. “The FairTax Act would create a fairer, simpler tax code that allows every American the freedom to determine his or her own priorities and opportunities.”..

FairTax would eliminate IRS, and it's headed for a voteMarshfield News Herald

U.S. Rep. Rob Woodall, R-Ga., sent a letter Sept. 25 to FairTax volunteers stating the House Ways and Means Committee will vote on the FairTax for the first time in history. All tax reform bills in the House of Representatives must pass the House Ways and Means Committee. This is an historic event for those who have worked long and hard for freedom…

The FairTax eliminates tax forms for individuals. It eliminates federal tax withholding. You would take home your gross pay minus state income taxes. The FairTax provides a monthly prebate to households which covers the cost of the FairTax on necessities. If you like the idea of choosing when to pay taxes and how much, contact your legislators and make sure they co-sponsor The FairTax Act of 2013.

With 81 federal legislators signed onto The FairTax Act of 2013, prospects for passage look good.
