As Election Day 2006 approaches, many FairTax.org members have requested information regarding the positions of certain candidates on the FairTax. In providing you with an update, please remember that FairTax.org is a nonpartisan educational and advocacy organization.
FairTax.org does not support or oppose any specific candidate or political party.
The information provided below was gathered from publicly available sources and includes those congressional districts on which we have received inquiries and/or
involve co-sponsors of H.R. 25 or the open seats of former co-sponsors of H.R. 25.
In some of the more hotly contested races, ads have appeared that offer misleading information regarding the “national sales tax.” Many of these ads that are playing in various states are, in fact, paid for by the same organization and cite the same erroneous study. The background of this campaign stunt and our rebuttal to the study are posted as the Featured Event and addressed specifically within the rebuttal under They Said WHAT?!
If a particular congressional district in which you are interested is not included on this list, it is safe to assume that neither candidate supports the FairTax, or both candidates are opposed to the FairTax. We have come across numerous candidates who contend they are committed to tax reform but are noncommittal with regard to the FairTax. We do not consider those who are undecided as active supporters of the FairTax, absent a public pronouncement to the contrary.
