Congress must pass Fair Tax Act to create more jobs
Congress could do one simple thing to end the current recession. It could pass the Fair Tax Act.
About 1.7 million Americans between the ages of 18 and 29 are unemployed. If they were all included in the unemployment numbers, the unemployment rate for that age group would be 16.8 percent. It’s the highest for them since World War II. A majority of recent high school and college graduates, 56 and 58 percent respectively, feel that they will not be better off than their parents. A Pew Research Center survey found that a quarter of 18 to 34 year olds have moved back in with their parents to save money. I could give you more but you get the point.
Most of our elected members of Congress refuse to replace a tax system that is destructive to jobs and the economy. They refuse mostly because our broken tax system serves their interests and is the best tool for getting re-elected. It’s time that the youth of our country are told about policies that strengthen our economy and lead to job creation. They need to be told about the corruption in our tax system. It’s time that the American people no longer tolerate a tax code that punishes the middle class and rewards special interests.
Americans for Fair Taxation has produced a video telling the story and giving the solution. You can view it online athttp://www.fairtax.org/site/PageServer.
Pass it on to everyone you know and just maybe we can get Congress to listen.
Taxation is not a Democrat or Republican issue — it’s an AMERICAN issue. Young and old must unite to send the message to Washington.
