All’s Fair ... 
In the name of “politics,” National Review Online’s editorial on the FairTax has turned the Founding Father’s promise of a government “of, by and for the people” on its head in surrendering the tax code to the presumed inevitability of control by an army of tax lobbyists. This is, of course, the current view from inside the Beltway and reveals a common but nonetheless unacceptably imperious perspective.

What book did Rudy read? 
When questioned about the FairTax during the ABC News GOP presidential debate, Giuliani wondered who would administer the FairTax and who would handle the exemptions. Since both topics are covered thoroughly in The FairTax Book, which he claims to have read and underlined, Ken Hoagland issued a press release to the national media with wonderings of his own.

FairTax supporter Robert Lowry attended a town hall meeting in Jacksonville, FL on July 7, 2007, where Rudy Giuliani offered several inaccuracies as reasons why he wouldn't sign the FairTax into law if it were passed by Congress and he was president. Dr. Lowry sent us this rebuttal.

FactCheck.org, a site apparently devoted to “objective” analysis, has recently been propagating false and misleading statements about the FairTax. We expressed our grave concern that these false and misleading statements appeared on their site in “Unspinning the FairTax” posted on May 31, 2007. We did so in the hope they might correct the misstatements. They did not.

In an article published in the Gwinnett Daily Post, Mr. Giuliani reportedly says abolishing the federal income tax is unrealistic because the economy depends on tax exemptions for real estate and charitable giving. He is wrong on both counts.

In recent statements, Senator Clinton has suggested that she is in favor of tax simplification and fairness. She has also stated she was not familiar with the specifics of the FairTax. However, her recent letter to a constituent, who is a member of FairTax.org, suggests that her position on the FairTax is somewhat misinformed.
