The Republican and Democrat Nominees Are: Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton

Although there was very little doubt that Trump and Clinton would be their party’s nominee, it is now official.  Maybe for the first time, Clinton supporters have acknowledged that people who see Hillary in a negative way is very high but assert that her negatives are not as high as Trump.

In effect, many people are saying that they don’t like either candidate but that they will vote for one of them.  In the recent past, many were saying that the choice between Ronald Reagan and Jimmy Carter was a choice between the lesser of two evils.  Carter was a disaster but Reagan would get us into a war.

The Income Tax/Payroll Tax and the New President

While many people will point out other reasons why one Presidential candidate is better than another, the growing frustration with the present income tax/payroll tax system is not going away.  The new President will have to deal with these problems.

  • The growth in income tax/payroll tax evasion is not going away and will continue to worsen.
  • The shift away from the employer/employee environment to the environment where over 40% of the workers are either working for more than one employer or are independent contractors will continue to accelerate.
  • The problem with an income tax/payroll tax system that punishes U.S. companies and U.S exports while rewarding imports is going to get worse.

The Dictionary Definition of Reform  and The D.C. Elite Definition of Reform

The Oxford Dictionary defines reform as, Make changes in (something, typically a social, political, or economic institution or practice) in order to improve it.

All of us who are not D.C. elites, meaning that we are looking at things not for what is in it for us but for the truth, believe that improve it means make something better.

If most Members of Congress and the D.C. elites were asked to answer Abraham Lincoln’s question, How many legs does a dog have if you call his tail a leg?, they would say, Five.   Lincoln of course said the correct answer was, Four.  Saying that a tail is a leg doesn't make it a leg.

Their idea of tax reform is to make a lot of noise, rearrange a few sentences, change some of the tax rates and tell people that they have really done a great service to America.  They also have ensured that all during the process they have been able to obtain generous contributions from lobbyists. They also have ensured that in the backrooms they can force lobbyists to continue to make donations and hire retired Members of Congress and their staff at high prices because if they don’t the loopholes may disappear.

Real Tax Reform

We must demand that the definition of “reform” be the dictionary definition and that it “improves” the tax system and not the definition of reform used by the elites.  Remember, they would answer if you call a tail a leg, how many legs would a dog have—five.  We need to keep this in mind when we question all of the candidates on their meaning of “reform.”

1040 Club, Contributions and Why We Must Act Now

As you see in FAIRtax Friday, there are a lot of reasons for FAIRtax supporters to be encouraged by the developments in the past week.  Because there seems to be agreement that some form of tax change will occur in 2017, as explained above, it is vital that we do everything we can to prevent the same old bait and switch that has accompanied tax reform.  If Congress doesn’t pass the FAIRtax in 2017 but passes fake tax reform of the present system, then it will be unlikely that we will get another chance for five or more years.

Thanks to all of you who are joining and/or remaining members of the 1040 Club. AFFT’s 1040 Club members contribute $10.40 per month. This provides a steady funding platform and allows us to ensure that we keep the pressure on the elites to prevent them from “putting lipstick on a pig” and not doing real tax reform.

If you are not yet a member of the 1040 Club, or if you are a member but want to join for someone else, please go to this link and sign up.

If you believe that all you can contribute to our efforts is $10, please go to fairtax.org and donate.  We have our best chance now and need your help.  Many of us prefer to make one donation as opposed to monthly donations and this greatly helps.

New FAIRtax Book

In last week’s FAIRtax Friday, Ron Maiellaro explained how America’s Big Solution was written and why it is an essential tool to help others understand the FAIRtax.  Do you know someone who would like to learn more about the FAIRtax in a format longer than 140 characters at a time? Maybe something like a booklet that presents the basics of the FAIRtax?  Well, America’s Big Solution is here!  America’s Big Solution is a booklet written by Ocala volunteer Terry Tibbetts and can be purchased as an e-book for the Amazon Kindle, the Barnes & Noble Nook and Apple mobile devices thru the iBook store.  And if you prefer a good old fashioned print copy, that’s also available at the above Amazon site.

We all know someone who would prefer a brief introduction to the FAIRtax and are not very active on social media.  These potential supporters may be interested in this booklet which is less than 30 pages long.

In order to help the FAIRtax become the law of the land, we need to reach out to everyone possible.  This booklet will hopefully reach another important segment of our society.  Please do what you can to promote it.

FAIRtax Power Radio

There are many ways in which people can help us educate more Americans about the FAIRtax.  In Programs 29 & 30, the FAIRtax Guys (Bob Paxton and Ron Maiellaro) describe how listeners can support and promote our efforts. Program 29 concentrates on simple but effective things for people with busy schedules, whereas Program 30 suggests some activities that might take a little more time.  The programs are free to the listeners. Please share these links with your friends and relatives.

We're pleased to announce that FAIRtax Power Radio is now available on iTunes and Spreaker.  A new episode will be posted every Friday morning but you can listen at any time by going to one of these sites. There is no cost to listen. By this time next week, we expect to be on iHeart Radio too.

Recently Bob and Ron decided to start from scratch discussing the many problems with the current income tax system and the reason why REAL tax reform is so desperately needed in our country.  In episode 3, Thomas Jefferson paid them a visit and gave his opinion of our federal income tax.  As you might guess, he wasn’t very happy with what he saw.  Then we searched for “the perfect tax system”.

In future episodes, you will hear from Bob “Paxworthy” famous for his “You Might Be A FAIRtax Fan!” routine.  The FAIRtax Guys are always open to your thoughts and opinions.  You can contact them at thefairtaxguys@gmail.com.

Episodes are still available on SoundCloud and YouTube but Spreaker is the site that lets up branch out to other, more popular sites that cater to podcasting.

The FAIRtax Guys will continue with FAIRtax Power Radio until HR 25 becomes the law of the land in 2017.  After that, I’m sure the episodes will go into the Radio Hall of Fame!  Please share this information with your constituents and anyone else you care to.  The more people we educate about the FAIRtax, the better the chances are that it will become a reality next year.

We plan to do several of these mailings each month. If you take a minute to open the sponsored emails and click through to the website, you are making an in kind contribution to AFFT. It is not required to actually make a purchase, but your minute of time will ensure that AFFT is paid ever larger amounts from people paying for us to send their offers to our supporters.

Again, we are making every effort to ensure that we work with only reputable companies. If you feel that any FAIRtax-sponsored email is objectionable, please email us at info@fairtax.org and tell us why. You can also opt to not receive these sponsored email messages but still receive FAIRtax emails.
