FAIRtax at the Salt and Light Conference
Editor’s note: Today’s Grassroots Corner comes from our North Carolina volunteer State Director, Laura McCue. Laura is doing what we want state leaders to do to get the FAIRtax brand out into the public.
North Carolina volunteer State Director, Laura McCue, and fellow FAIRtax supporter from Asheville, Christine Robinson, recently attended the North Carolina Faith and Freedom Salt and Light Conference held in Nebo, North Carolina. More than 1,000 enthusiastic and happy people came.
Laura hosted a FAIRtax table in the vendor area and handed out many copies of Kerry Bowers’ Key Points Summary paper, “The FAIRtax Act of 2021, HR 25.” At the end of the last day Laura says she only had one copy left. She also gave away many copies of “The FAIRtax: It’s Time” DVD to interested attendees. Other items that interested conference-goers were palm cards and business cards with the 2023 Prebate on the back. Promotional items such as these are available at https://fairtaxstore.org/. Several people wanted the bumper stickers, and a few took car flags. Bumper stickers make for the most cost-effective advertising FAIRtax has. Stickers and pens are always popular, and Laura found that only one or two attendees took items while walking by without necessarily displaying interest in the FAIRtax. Everyone else stopped at the table.
While there was some uncertainty prior to the event as to whether the attendees would be the kind of people supportive or even aware of the FAIRtax, that uncertainty was quickly dispelled. The crowd was excited to be there to hear the speakers, and one of the most anticipated and much appreciated was Governor Mike Huckabee – a strong FAIRtax supporter who ran for President with the FAIRtax as one of his important issues.
Other speakers included Judge Jeanine Piro, Alveda King, Clarence Henderson, Benny Johnson, and Tulsi Gabbard. Many attendees stopped at the table to either talk about why they supported the idea or to ask good questions in their desire to understand it better.
